So you want to “do theatre” but you’re not quite experienced or educated enough yet to get cast in community theatre productions but you also don’t want to go back to college for a theatre arts degree simply to do theatre in your spare time. 🙂 This class is for you!

Adult Ensemble is a weekly gathering where you’ll enjoy all of the benefits of being part of a theatre cast, like the tight knit community of people with shared interests and something to look forward to each week, along with learning about many aspects of the theatre.

We’ll start with the basics, so we’re all speaking the same theatre arts language, and then we’ll begin exploring creative drama, acting, movement, improvisation, and scene study as you move as a group toward having a showcase to present to an audience of family and friends.

Our ultimate goal for the Adult Ensemble is that the group will perform in productions as part of 3Below’s Playhouse Series. Adult Ensemble members will audition for and be cast in productions offered throughout the year.

If you want to know how to sing or speak, how to do so healthily, and how to build and call upon technique that will sustain you beyond your natural talent, this class has the answers and your teacher has an innate sense when it comes to music and aims to help you achieve your goals, release tensions, and express love and healing through the expression of singing. The class will focus on a healthy technique, breath, projection, support, alignment, and the love of music. If you want to use your voice – your instrument – not just today, but for your lifetime, studying with someone offering a foundational approach will be the key to your success. We will start by reviewing how to read sheet music, understanding melody vs. harmony, and a variety of song and music styles. Vocal technique including breathing, posture, and vocal health will be covered in depth. We will apply these disciplines by singing simple choral music which will push all to grow, both as a musician and as a singer/performer.

Led by 3Below’s Production Manager and Resident Designer, this class will give students the opportunity to participate in workshops devoted to artisanship and design. Stagecraft workshops will give students the opportunity to work with the tools and techniques of theatrical production in a practical way. Theatre Design workshops will introduce you to the craft, theory, and art of designing for theatre and dance presentations, exploring artistic, historical, and cultural elements of theatre design. Theoretical knowledge will be balanced with experiential learning, obtained through practical experiences at 3Below.
